This quick and easy steakhouse style horseradish cream sauce is perfect with your favorite roast beef, prime rib, or steak. It's also an awesome addition to mashed potatoes or a steak sandwich.

A bowl of horseradish cream sauce topped with chives.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons prepared horseradish (or more to taste)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • Optional - Fresh chives for garnish

How to prepare the sauce

Preparation of this classic horseradish sauce couldn't be easier! Simply combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and stir to combine. Then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.

You can store the prepared sauce in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

What to serve with horseradish cream sauce

This horseradish cream sauce recipe is a perfect accompaniment to pretty much any type of roast meat. I love to serve this sauce with prime rib, roast beef and roast pork.

It makes a great sandwich spread for leftover roast beef and steak sandwiches too. And it's awesome mixed in with mashed potatoes to give them more flavor.
